Baccarat Perfume BottlesBaccarat Perfume Bottles have been produced by the Cristalleries de Baccarat company since the 19th century.  (The company was established in France in 1764 and has been producing 30% lead crystal since 1816.)

Until the early 1900s their bottles were plain, but beginning in 1911 the company began to make more decorative bottles, inspired by other perfume bottle manufacturers like Lalique, Maurice Depinoix and Julien Viard.   They began to produce high quality perfume bottles in romantic styles with Art Nouveau and Ethereral influences.  In the 1920s and 1930s they made more Art Deco geometric perfume bottles.

English Hobnail Depression Glass Perfume BotttleOn of the few Depression Glass patterns to have a Perfume Bottle is the English Hobnail Pattern. English Hobnail was made by the Westmoreland Glass Company from the 1920s through the 1980s. It was made in Pink, Cobalt Blue, Turquoise Blue, Green, Red, Black, White, Crystal (clear) and Amber. The Crystal and Amber colors were made in the 40s, 50s 60s (not true "Depression Glass") and the other colors are considered Depression Glass, or made in the Depression Era.

Vintage Avon Perfume BottleAvon began in 1886 as the California Perfume Company and has been selling perfume ever since.  Avon has dominated the lower priced perfume market for decades.  Since so much Avon perfume has been sold and so Avon Perfume Bottlemany people have had Avon perfume, there is a fairly strong interest in Avon Perfume Bottles.  Since Avon perfume is mass produced, most bottles are relatively inexpensive, except for a few rarer bottles.

Vintage Chanel No 5 Perfume BottleErnest Beaux created Chanel No. 5 for Coco Chanel in 1921.   It was an instant success and today remains the best selling perfume in the world (a bottle is sold every 30 seconds).  The perfume contained synthetics, which was a dramatic change from the floral fragrances of the day.  It has a floral top note of ylang-ylang and neroli, with a heart of blends of jasmine and rose all above a woody base of sandalwood and vetiver.

The simple and elegant bottle has changed very little over the years.  This sealed bottle of Chanel No. 5 from the 1950s recently sold for over $200.
